    Julie Hamilton was born and raised in Holbrook and has been a proud member of the Holbrook Learning Community since 1997. Throughout her successful 20 year career in the Holbrook Public Schools, Mrs. Hamilton has served in many roles from Title One paraprofessional, special education teacher (inclusion & sub separate), elementary school teacher (grades 4-6), lead teacher, assistant principal, and principal of the South School. Under Mrs. Hamilton’s leadership, as principal, the South School was added to a short list of schools titled, the Most Commendable Schools in Massachusetts-a list complied by Governor Deval Patrick! All parents, guardians, and members of the community are invited to our Showcase Event where we will be highlighting our college preparatory and advanced placement courses; our expanding academic electives and extracurricular activities; and our supportive and personal approach to education. Come learn about the innovative programs that will be available in our new school facility and the changes that our talented and committed faculty is making to provide an increasingly rigorous and challenging educational experience for all students.

Parent Conferences

Report cards were sent home with students on Thursday, November 10th.
Parent conferences will be held Thursday, November 17th
 12:00 - 2:30 p.m.
   6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Appointments may be made by contacting staff via email, phone, or by completing an appointment request form found here.  

(This is an early release day for students. Dismissal will be at 11:15.)

Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to follow their student's schedules and meet their teachers. This is a chance to become familiar with the expectations and guidelines for each course.  We hope to see you then!
 

BOY'S SOCCER TRYOUTS


Boy's soccer Tryouts will take place Monday, August 29th at the JFK from 2:30-4:30.

ATHLETIC BOOSTERS

Holbrook Athletic Boosters will hold their first meeting on Thursday, September 8th at 6:30 p.m. in the teacher's room.  This is on the lower level of the high school across from the cafeteria. New members are welcome!

Throughout the year, the Boosters plan and organize numerous events (Homecoming parade and dance, athletic banquets...)  that enhance the sports experience for our athletes.  Please consider giving your time and support to this group.

Sports Physicals

SPORTS PHYSICALS
Sports physicals will be conducted in school by
Dr. Trembly on Wednesday, November 16th at 10:30 a.m.  
Any athlete competing in high school sports must have an up to date physical exam in order to participate.

Screenagers

Screenagers is a movie about the impact of the digital age on children.  It examines how families can minimize harmful effects and find balance in an online world.
Please join us on November 29th at 7 p.m. at the High School Auditorium for this worthwhile event. 

You are also invited to stop by our bake sale before or after the movie, hosted by the Junior Honor Society.

Featured Speaker: DR. RUTH POTEE is a nationally recognized expert in the area of adolescent brain development and its impact on teenage risk taking, including alcohol and substance abuse. She blends scientific research with a hands-on understanding of the challenges of raising healthy teens. She practices family medicine in Greenfield, MA and is Chair of the Healthcare Solutions Opioid Task Force of Franklin County.

On Thursday, March 30th, the Holbrook Athletic Boosters will be sponsoring a fundraiser at Jake and JOES in Braintree. Just bring this fundraiser ticket and enjoy lunch, dinner, drinks or take-out. When paying your check, give your server or bartender the fundraising ticket.
 Jake n JOES will contribute 20% of the total bill to the
Holbrook Athletic Boosters.

Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness Day

Holbrook Bulldog Cookbook

The Holbrook Jr/Sr High School Parent Group would like to invite you to participate in our first edition of the Holbrook Bulldog Cookbook which will be available in May 2017.

We are currently collecting recipes, cooking tips and anything that might make someone's cooking experience something to be repeated.  We have invited local businesses and hope to spread the word around town to all residents.

CHESS CLUB

 The Holbrook Junior/Senior High School Chess Club will hold its first meeting on   Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 2:15 to 3:30 PM. All levels of players are welcome to join the Chess Club from students who do not know how to play to students who are very advanced.

Chess Club will meet in the Computer Lab, room 116 on Tuesday afternoons when school is in session.  Chess Club will not be held on early release days.

 Trial dates for Holbrook are listed below.  All trials are held at Stoughton District Court and are open to the public for viewing. Trials will begin at 1:30 and run approximately two hours.

Pennies for Patients

On Thursday, March 9th, all students were given a Pennies for Patients donation box. 

 From now until March 27, our school-wide goal is to raise over $650.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by collecting quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies in these donation boxes. All coin donations should be brought to Miss Grant in
Room 103 for tallying.

Boston Bruins Pajama Drive

Holbrook Jr Sr High School has teamed up with the Boston Bruins, the Department of Children and Families and Cradles to Crayons for their annual pajama drive. The PJ Drive’s goal is to collect 10,000 pairs of new pajamas for children and teens in need.

HEALTHY SMILES

Mass Kidz Healthy Smiles is returning to Holbrook Jr. Sr. High School on Friday, October 7, 2016.  This team of dental professionals provides preventative services to any interested students. Dental hygienists will provide a dental screening, cleaning, fluoride, dental sealants, and referrals as necessary. No x-rays will be done and this service will be at no cost to you. For more information about this program, visit their website at www.masskidzhealthysmiles.com or contact Mrs. Froio at 781-815-1620.  Informational packets will be distributed to all students on Thursday, September 22.  If interested, please complete the form and return to school nurse Mrs. Froio.
